Leaving one paradise for another

I have been living in with my small family in Victoria, British Columbia for 10 years.  Victoria is a land of beautiful gardens, sparkling ocean, and a sea of green year-round in a lush, mild climate that my little family has grown to love.

And now, our little piece of paradise is coming to an end.  My husband has received a fabulous new job offer, we have a second baby on the way, and we are leaving Victoria for Kelowna, British Columbia.

I know very little about Kelowna except 3 major points:
  • Most of the fruit grown in Canada is grown in this area; apples and grapes in particular (with many vineyards - hooray!)
  • Kelowna derives its name from an Okanagan language term for "grizzly bear"
  • There is a legend about a lake monster living in Okanagan Lake (Kelowna borders this lake) called the Ogopogo.
I visited Kelowna as a child with my parents and sister, I remember it was hot and the lake was fun.  That's about it.

So, as this new world reveals itself to me,  I am going to write about it here.  I may take some pictures, review local attractions, and keep track what I find - selfishly this is also so that I remember all the good spots to return to when I can.

You are most welcome to join me here on my exploration of our new paradise in the Okanagan Valley.
